The Code looks fine to me; transparency is important, the briefer the better, and as Susan said, more can be added on later as needed.

I was just about to delete all of the comments above before Saturday and thought...hmmm...this is kinda neat - everyone can see our little dialogue as we created this and add suggestions to it as well...community code writing yeah? What do you think?

Thanks for the input Elliot and Dar.....here are some ideas for your feedback. There are some holes, and things I wasn't sure about, so add/change as you see fit. Let me know what else you might like me to focus on for other codes. I don't think we should make this excessively long though. We can always add to it if things come up that need to be addressed here....

Notes-- I was wondering if we need to say anything about copyrights for clips or music posted- I don't know what the legalities are around posting to public forums vs. private forums. Is it ok to post as long as it is a link to another place, if the item posted is not your personal/group's video, photo, etc.?

Elliot- I used your quote, love it!

I wasn't sure if you want included any of the usual "rules" for forums, like no profanity, no pretending to be someone other than yourself, no flame wars. etc etc.....I would hope that we can have higher expectations of our forum members? Does any of that need said as Terms of Service?

Here ya go:

The Basics:

* You can start your own group. (more on this? or do you think it is obvious how to do....?)

* You can participate in your groups' discussions and the open Sphere (?) discussions (not sure how to word that), but you won't have access to participate in discussions of a group to which you don't belong. (this might be obvious since you need to be invited?)

* Assume that information you post is going to be shared with others. Please be sure to include source links when applicable.

* You are responsible for your own words. Debate can be healthy when done in the spirit of sharing perspectives and respecting different points of view.

* Feel free to post videos, photos, music, or any other content you want to include both for personal sharing and as part of discussions.

* There is no such thing as a stupid question or idea. Inquire! Use your imagination! Share your ideas! Tell us what is working! What can we do better? You have a voice in these forums, we are all learning and educating each other.

* The Sphere is 90% about the people, and only 10% about the technology. YOU have the power and authority to build this platform and develop these forums in ways in which you feel will most benefit yourselves and your groups.

The Goals:

* To provide a positive space for facilitating discussion regarding all things sustainable.

* To share info, educate, motivate, and inspire each other.

* To offer and discuss solutions, not dwell on problems.

* To grow, strengthen, and empower the web of interconnections among us, enabling more solution based actions which will further everyone's sustainability goals.

we are blessed to be working with such amazing people all over the world that we can put
automatic faith and confidence in their discernment so we don't have to over stress the "rules" but have the luxury of putting in writing the collectives already existing evolved "code" ....

Hi Susan - could you please add some "codes" that you might think are necessary to be put in writing - nice thing about this sphere is the people who will be coming are wonderful people so we don't have to worry about a ton of written rules etc....would love to hear your thought..
