One Planet Development Guidance

A study on behalf of the Welsh Government to provide a Practice Guidance Document on One Planet Development has been undertaken. It will assist applicants and local planning authorities to achieve One Planet Development within the policy framework.
One Planet Developments are exception to the planning policy for the open countryside. They should be reversible and through their low impact either enhance or not significantly diminish environmental quality. Planning proposals in the open countryside are required to justify their exceptional status through a Management Plan submitted with the planning application that demonstrates how its ambitions are and will be achieved and how their success will be monitored over their life.

The Management Plan is made up of
- A description of the development
- The Ecological Footprint Analysis of the proposal, and
- Monitoring and review of the proposal.
